Before the end of April 2011, it was announced that the prestigious Royal College of Music (RCM) degrees will be made available to Singaporeans without having to leave Sinagpore to pursue the studies!

Good news that the government will be subsidising the fee for its 2-year Bachelor of Music course, making the course more affordable. Tuition fee is down from $56,000 to $18,500 as reported by Straits Times. PRs will get a smaller subsidy though, paying $23,400 for the course. This translate to savings from having to go London for the course, thus savings from costs of living in London (even though the exchange rate is low now).

The pre-requisit is to have a music diploma from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (Nafa) or its equivalent. This initiative is part of the government's effort to provide more opportunities to Singaporeans to excel in different interests. PM Lee Hsien Loong was at the official signing ceremony between Nafa and RCM last week.
